A Minimally Invasive Treatment for
Postoperative Air Leaks
Using endobronchial techniques, the Spiration Valve System enables qualified physicians to place the valves in pre-identified airways to aid in the reduction or cessation of specific postoperative leaks. The Spiration Valve System's flexible catheter is specially designed to help physicians navigate and deploy Spiration Valves in segmental and subsegmental airways. The unique design of the Spiration Valve has a center rod, which facilitates its removal. The Spiration Valve procedure is performed under conscious sedation or general anesthesia.1,2
Prior to the procedure, a sizing balloon is calibrated to enable precise measurement of the airways.
Successful isolation requires systematic movement from proximal to distal airways. Click here for more information.
The calibrated balloon is used to size the airways targeted for valve placement.
Valves are delivered to the target location and deployed proximal to the air leak blocking distal air flow to damaged tissue.
Valves are removed using bronchoscopic techniques and biopsy forceps.
